About Me

Professional Background

I am a dedicated healthcare professional with over 22 years of experience in pre-hospital emergency care, specializing in trauma management, resuscitation, and obstetric and neonatal emergencies. My career began in 2004 at the Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (ΕΚΑΒ) in Athens, where I have served continuously since then. My operational experience covers the full spectrum of emergency response, from conventional ambulances to Advanced Life Support (ALS) Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU).

Committed to clinical excellence, I continuously advance my knowledge to remain at the forefront of emergency medical practice. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery from the University of Western Macedonia. Currently, I am expanding my expertise as a postgraduate student in the MSc program “Emergency Surgery and Trauma” at the School of Medicine, NKUA, complemented by a certification in Adult Education and Pedagogical Competence.

Beyond clinical practice, I focus on optimizing pre-hospital protocols through research, bridging the gap between evidence-based medicine and field operations.

Management of childbirth in a pre-hospital environment with a practical and economical set of materials and equipment

Abstract

Assisting childbirth in prehospital settings poses a great challenge due to the unexpected and quite often emergent nature of such cases. This study describes a practical, simple and low-cost set of materials and equipment that can be utilised by local authorities to assist normal childbirth and ensure safety and efficiency in the management of prehospital births.
